Red Poppies

I had heard about these Poppy fields last year during a meeting with the Emerald Photographic Society and have since wanted to take some photos of them. I read somewhere that there used to be a field of pink Poppies but that one is gone and this year, there is a field of red ones. Either way, I was so excited to finally shoot them. I drove up to Junction City in search of these fields. After driving around for a bit, I finally found them! If you know me personally, you will know that I love Poppies. They are one of my favorite flowers.  The day was beautiful for shooting! It had been raining and the blue sky was peeking through the white fluffy clouds. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Sunshine and Sweetness

I recently took these photos of a friends little girl and I am so happy with them. We got lucky with the location and the lighting. I really wanted to go for that warm fuzzy feel to the photos. The text in the first photo was provided by Vol.25. She does amazing art and overlays for your photography.

Hunting Cherry Trees

After spending a couple hours in search for a cherry tree orchard that was overgrown and secluded, we found one! The owner of the land was very helpful and allowed us to venture into their backyard. I was so excited to do this shoot with a friend of mines daughter. I had some ideas but really just wanted to have fun with it. We spent about an hour taking different shots and the weather was beautiful. When you live in Oregon, you really never know what you will get. You can see more images on my facebook page.

EPS Challenge Night: Broken

Emerald Photographic Society does a challenge night every month and this month was the word "Broken". The name of the game is to take a photo portraying our interpretation of the word. This was my take on it.

Love Story

I recently got to take photos of a lovely couple who got engaged on the Oregon coast. I've always wanted to do photos on the beach and this was the perfect opportunity. Jessica from Vol.25 provided some awesome text overlays. It was hard to choose what ones to post but here are a few of my favorites.

Carlton Complex Fire

Several friends and family lost their homes recently in the Carlton Complex fire and the loss is great. It has been awful sitting so far away and not being able to help them in any way. I was up late at night with worry. Families were evacuated from the small town of Pateros all of the sudden and lost so much. Most of my family lives up the Methow and fought all night trying to save their homes. They managed to save it by some miracle. God sure did shield them. We knew they were stuck up there with  no where to go. Our close friends who lived in Pateros were not so lucky. My Aunt lost her home and close friends lost theirs. I'm so thankful that they are safe. It wont be easy for them for awhile.

Some photos of the families homes. These photos were not taken by me but by friends and family.

a whim

I had a sudden urge to take some portraits and so I sent out a text to a couple of young ladies to see if they were available the following morning. I was lucky to get one. I wanted to practice shooting with my 50mm lens and posing. This young lady was amazing and she even said that she didn't think she was very photogenic! She was very wrong and I'm so happy with how the photos turned out. I'm loving my 50mm lens and I can't wait to shoot more with it.
